@tacticalplinker the fact you feel the need to correct the term "security enforcement officer" from security guard tells me you take your job to seriously.

I was always just a "rent a cop". I have always cringed at the wanna bees who feel the need to be refered to as "officer" or any other title.

As far aas cuffs go, I once had someone try to stop my car and make me get out to help him at 3am, I ended up hitting him with my vehicle since he refused to let me pass on a public road. As soon as he got off my hood and out of my way, I hit the gas and drove several blocks to a payphone (long before cel phones were around). I called 911 to report the hit and run in case he really needed help. I told the dispatcher that while he was prone out on my hood, I pulled out a set of cuffs and asked him if he wanted to wear them. This is what got the guy to get off my hood. Anyway, the dispatcher spent the next few minutes grilling me about why I had cuffs. It was none of her bussiness and completely legal for me to have them in the pocket of my work jacket or anywhere else I wanted to keep them when I wasn't working.

Interestingly, the security guards at my work place have real arrest powers. They have a special MOU with the local LE. So this question would be relevant to them...

Yes, being that it was my residence, I had the right to carry anywhere on the 400 acres.
