    AR Trigger Groups

    Hey Guys
So I am doing my first AR build, and I am a little but of a noobie on some of this stuff. I have decided that my upper and lower are going to be LMT, but now I am researching trigger groups. So what do you guys recommend as far as price and reliability/quality. I am looking to stay on a reasonable budget, but I also do not want to cheap out. I am going to be honest, there are so many companies that make trigger groups, that I do not know which on to go with. I am looking for middle to high quality, since I am building a rifle to LEO standards, but price is also an issue(when is it not). Any feedback would be helpful.

    Thanks m8s

LEO standards, just get a good mil-spec or if you want a slight upgrade get a Nickel Boron coated mil spec trigger group. If you want a real upgrade, CMC, JP, or AR Gold (pricey).

If your department permits use of aftermarket triggers then I'd go with a Geissele.

Thanks guys! The Geissele triggers are rather pricey(160) compared to the Nickel Baron. What are the differences between the two. I have no problem spending more if the quality difference warrants it. On and btw no department regulations to meet on this one.

Ive been very happy with the standard trigger from psa. I got a lpk for my lr308 from dpms and trigger was horrible. Ended up sending it to bill springfield and he made it awesome.

I have heard some bad things about PSA's quality. Anyway thanks for the info. I will keep looking and researching. Anything else you guys can add would be helpful!

I've had good results with both the ALG and Spikes "battle" triggers:

Shop rifle parts (2,765) at Brownells, including barrels, stocks, triggers, and bolt carriers to customize, repair, or upgrade your rifle’s performance.

Geissele triggers are smooth and crisp- they feel lighter than they are- built like a swiss watch. The OEM trigger will feel like crap if you get used to a Geissele.

The drop-in Wilson Combat TTU is another good unit. Both companies make different styles (single or two stage), and different pull weights. Choose the weight and style you prefer. I'm starting to like the single stage 3-gun triggers on carbines, and light 2 stage units on long range/match rifles.

The Jard adjustable trigger is also nice if you're willing to do the extra work to get one installed (possibly tapping the PG screw hole all the way through if it isn't already done). That trigger needs loc-tite on all the adjustment screws, but can rival the Wilson or Geissele when tuned right for about $100 less (single stage only).

Geissele Triggers are worth every penny. You will not be disappointed.

                      You will not be disappointed...

Until you try a superior trigger like a JP or AR Gold. I had an AR Gold first and was incredibly disappointed by the inferior Geissele S3G.

However if one wants to pay a premium for investment cast parts (Geissele), go right ahead.

                        I lol'd at IPSICKs post.

                        I have a S3G, it's amazing.

Op, I'm in Elk Grove and your more than welcome to come feel up my trigger.

And if you already have a lower, I'll install my hard chromed and polished mil-spec trigger so you can try that one too.

If I hadn't sold my other AR, I would have swapped for a Geissele in a heartbeat. I put an SSA in my most recent build, and I just couldn't go back to shooting that garbage milspec trigger for the life of me. Night and day. Love my Geissele.

I have a SSA-E from Geissele and I love it, smooth, crisp and beautifully made.

If you're not looking for a match grade break and trigger weight, get a Geissele SSA and be done with it. Great trigger pull and bombproof. If you want to get into the high end stuff, then decide if you want a drop in or a parts trigger. The Geissele Hi-Speed is really something else. If you want a simple drop in unit then try an AR Gold.
