    Thinking about a CHINA SKS....thoughts?

Just got turner's ad and they have CHINESE SKS's with blade bayonet for 249.00

From what I have been reading the chinese have taken this rifle to it's performance peak and therefore regarded as one of the best SKS's to purchase.

    Does anyone own one?

What should I look for when buying one?

    Any other opinions appreciated

    Thanks
    Joe

Have you gone to Turners to see what it actually looks like? Don't be fooled by the pic in the ad. It is not indicative of the actual gun. I know because I bolted to Turners today after seeing that ad. I went home really disappointed and empty handed.

Really the lesson is "You get what you pay for". I even thought about just buying it for the barrel and action and swapping in a newer Monte Carlo stock but the condition is not what I consider to be "good" more like fair to poor.

The condition is usually poor. I even asked a few stores.

I wouldn't buy it simply because it is "Made in China". You get wht you pay for and I would not trust my life with a Chinese firearm.

Do it, should shoot fine. If I had not already spent $2500 on guns and parts today, I would buy three.

I have a sporterized Norinco that I bought from a fellow calgunner. I think it is a commercial only version so the fit, finish and condition is excellent. I like using stripper clips. No bullet button to deal with and if you buy surplus ammo it already comes loaded on clips.

One thing to verify before you buy any 7.62 x 39 firearm is that you have a range that will allow magnetic ammo. When people talk about how cheap 7.62 is, they are referring to steel cased or bimetal ammo which is not allowed at many ranges.

This is a rifle you buy for fun. You should already have the "one" you trust your life on.

They should have plenty in the next 3 days, as a lot of are going to pass on it the moment they see that Turners are selling junks!

They are thrasher rustbuckets. Fun project guns but not good for much else. It seems as if you have to spend closer to $400.00 to $500.00 to get a nice SKS.

They are early Sino Soivets. The Chinese made some of the best AK and SKS.You should look at all your parts on your AR if it is not stamprd USA it most likely came from China. It is sad to say that most thing are not made in the USA.
