Would like to hear y'all's opinions on these two and your choice if you could only get one. Thanks in advance for your time and opinions.

Start with the 10-22 cuz it really is "that good". And I'm not its biggest fan. But the truth is its the V8 chevy of .22s. AK reliability and AR buildability...

The Ruger 10/22 is more accurate and more reliable than the S&W M&P-15/22.
The Ruger 10/22 also has more aftermarket support (parts/magazines) than the S&W M&P-15/22.

10/22 takedown, best of all worlds.

          I own both 10/22s (lots of 10/22s) and a M&P15-22 and prefer my 10/22s.

Primary Arms or the Bushnell TRS-25.
Between the 10/22 and 15-22, I'd take the 15-22. My own preference though

I know most will say both...

                      I SAY NEITHER!

Mine, once thoroughly broken in, and now fed a steady diet of anything with a side of Slip 2000 Extreme Weapons Lube (its a miracle at turning grit into slick black oil), will run as reliably as any 10-22 I have seen. Top that with the melonite coating yields a indestructible barrel.

The accuracy is probably on par or a bit worse than the average factory 10-22, and apparently match barrels are available (which would be amazing).

Best for last, the lower is 5.56 upper compatible... So once you get the basics of rifle marksman ship down, you can upgrade to a full power carbine. The trigger pull is the same with each upper, which makes a great trainer.

if you plan on tacticooling up your 10/22

                          just get the 15-22

                          if not, get the 10/22

Very much agree. I am a big 15-22 fan. You get an great rifle out of the box. The other one is nice but you always seem to end up tarting it up and wasting so much more money on it just to make it cute. Not worth it to me. Stick with the M&P.
