On a tangent, I just read an article (can't remember the magazine off the top of my head) about somebody making an "AR" that shoots 7.62X39 and uses AK47 magazines; other than an angled mag-well, it pretty much looks like any other AR (except for that big ole' banana magazine curving out to the front!!!).

It's not a real new rifle, so it has probably been discussed on the forum before.

EDIT: Here it is: Rock River Arms LAR-47 http://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/201...takes-ak-mags/

I'm surprised it took 11 posts before someone suggested the AK instead of building an AR. Some of you CG'ers are losing your touch. LOL!

If you reload 300 AAC you only need a different barrel, you get load the same amount of rounds in a mag, and same brass (cut down) or 6.8 SPC barrel, bolt, different brass more knock down power, but less amount of rounds in a mag

im building one right now. Im using the NFA Gen II composite complete lower with a custom 7.62x39 upper built from a calguns member. He has awesome uppers for a really great price look him up on the commercial marketplace his sn is pinoy something but its always up. Im converting standard magpul mags to shoot the 7.62x39 round by switching out the follower to be a 6.8 follower. the plastic lower is strong enough to shoot the .458 and has done so flawlessly and I have been told by NFA that their composite lowers will have no issues with the 7.62x39 uppers.
