What I don't get is that a Mosin (the old use kind) is say $100 and ammo is cheap. I don't see a need or want to buy a new one. The rifle doesn't have that much appeal. If going 308 then my bolt action choices are plentiful, but, I wouldn't buy a Russian version of the American caliber 308.

Exactly. The only new production items on this rifle are the barrel, front sight, extractor, and maybe the bolt head...unless they reworked an existing bolt head to work with the rimless round the way Bannerman did with their Mosin .30-06 conversions.

Everything else is either recycled, or in the case of the stock and handguard, maybe "New Old Stock" replacement parts that have been sitting around since the late 1940's.

And you know this how? Supposition stated as fact?

There IS a market for guns inside Russia and Eastern Europe.

I like the idea of the bent bolt and the new stock.

Does anyone know what that rifle underneath the Mosin is? It looks like a VEPR Hunter, but the rail and the sights are different. But it looks really cool.

Also the article mentioned a page 2, did anyone figure out how to get there?

Looks like part 2 hasn't been posted yet.(the menu at the top is in english, click "home". you'll see that part 1 is the most recent article)

edit: Looks like part 1 was posted on the 16th, and looking at the dates for the other stuff on his website, he seems to post every week or two. Check back for part 2 in a couple days maybe?

Here is some more info on the new Mosin, it has a Dragunov/Vepr scope mount option.

                    I am kinda curious

Ummm, that molot.biz page hasn't been updated in years. You can see a 2010 version of the page here: http://web.archive.org/web/201004120...t-e/op-ckc.php

What are the chances it was a typo? Id bet it really is 7.62x54r.

I collect Military Arms and enjoy shooting in local matches. I also collect older Lever Actions, especially those chambered in odd/old cartridges. If you have a nice old Winchester or Marlin in 25-20, 32-40, 38-55, 40-60, 45-70, etc etc, please PM me and we can work out a deal.

Typo on the sign and marked on the receiver incorrectly as well? I don't think so. http://77rus.smugmug.com/Military/AR...ing2012-15.jpg

You can see the text on the sign and on the receiver very clearly in the large image.

Thank you. It is indeed a newly manufactured rifle (based on MN), new receiver, chrome lined barrel etc.

And yes I would buy one if I could. Military proven design and ruggedness is better then modern hunting rifles. Even the caliber (7.62x51) is acceptable even though I'd still prefer 54R.

that mosin would be perfect to shoot those wolf/bear russian made .308 ammo through.
