My SCAR 16s - Range report post #30

    Finally got one :

First impressions so far without firing the weapon:

    1. It's light but no where near my KISS AR
    2. Very well balanced
    3. With the balance, it seems very maneuerable
    4. Barrel needs to be chopped
    5. Front rail is a little short for my shooting style
    6. Love the bolt hold open lay out
    7. Stock is ugly as hell, but very comfortable

Going to the range this Saturday and can't wait to see how it performs aganist my AR.

Congrats on the scar...if you want to look at getting a longer rail. Might want to look at the PWS SRX rail, gives you an additional 5 inches of rail space .

Very nice! Why do you say that the barrel needs to be chopped?

Very nice! Congrats! If you really like the balance of it then I wouldn't consider chopping the barrel off. Have fun with it at the range!

Get one of these and it will solve your handguard and likely the barrel aesthetics issue.

You probably want a lighter foregrip too. If weight is a concern, not sure why you chose one of the heavier offerings on the market.

Nice! Where do you plan on shooting it? I'm thinking of a range trip this weekend myself..

Thanks for the suggestions on the rails, but I heard they make it front heavy. Something I'm trying to avoid.

Regarding the barrel, I'm either thinking of chopping it or getting a factory 14" and adding a 2" brake or FH. The only thing stopping me from getting the factory barrel is that they are not out yet and they are reported to cost around $1,200.

Burro canyon is the only range that doesn't give me grief on my black rifles.

What do you suggest? The TD stubby is barely 2 or 3 ounces. It's lighter than the Magpuls.

You'll need one longer than that...remember how much of the barrel will be under the brake/FH

Never an issue for me at Angeles...heck, easily 85% of the people there on a given day are shooting black rifles (excluding the pistol side).

Make sure you modify those pmags before you use them in that scar
