SB 249 squashed!? NO - keep calling.

I'm sure many if not all of us have seen the rumors going around that SB 249 is 'dead', it's being reported by some 2A and shooting organizations.
At the same time others are saying it is not 'dead' and nothing has changed from this morning, Thursday is still the day the Appropriations Committee will hear the bill.

The last I have heard, from the NRA lobbyist and the CRPA lobbyist in Sacramento is that the bill is still alive and still on the schedule.

At this time it's safe to say that there is a lot of confusion about this and that it's understandable not to know what to believe.
I'm not going to tell you that 'X' is fact and everything else is hogwash, I know who I put my trust in but that is only my opinion and I can not call it 'fact'.

What I am going to say is this, dead or alive we can not stop fighting this bill because in politics things like this can be 'resurrected' on a moment's notice.
Until we have concrete information we should continue to press the fight forward and not give any slack.

If Thursday comes and SB 249 is not on the agenda, great.
We can take a deep breath, say we're one step closer to victory and get right back in to the game.
For 2012 this is not 'won' until September 1st and until then we should keep our powder dry and stay ready.

Take any rumors with a grain of salt, hope for the best but continue as if the worst were happening.
With luck tomorrow will lead to more information that can resolve these rumors.

Because the Legislature may 'play games' with the rules - suspend or ignore at their pleasure - it is not certain that this bill is dead until September 2 dawns and it is not in the Governor's inbox.
