I have a Pre Ban AR which I have lost my paperwork, can I take to the Range without Papers?

I shoot WEGC.

Can I use my " over ten round " Mags? With these AR's .........

Collect AR's so I been using Bullet Button Mags.

As long as it is a registered assault weapon (RAW) and you are the legal owner of both the rifle and hi-cap mags, you should be fine. I believe people carry the papers "just in case" to save a possible hassle; not out of necessity. You can also use "high capacity" magazines in it as well as it is already an assault weapon to CA.

There is no requirement to carry or even keep your paperwork at all. There is no paperwork for +10 round mags.

certain areas may have policys that require you to show paperwork but there is no law that says you must carry them

the ukiah blm ranger said that if you dont have the confirmation letter he will confiscate them but they generally act a tad weird its understandable if you encounter morons and litterbugs all day

Well, the "assault weapon" registry is about as accurate as the handgun registry.

If your entry got lost and you don't have papers, you might be screwed if you get charged with possession of an unregistered "assault weapon".

Also remember that there are transportation and storage requirements for "assault weapons" that you need to follow. Having your rifle case locked during a traffic stop will be good because the police won't be able to open it without your permission (which you shouldn't give).

Any way, do what you think is best but I think you should find those papers and try to minimize your contact with the police.
