80% lower not accepting fire selector switch

Having some issues with my lower build.
It's a TM 80% with a PSA LPK. I've got everything almost buttoned up except the fire selector switch.
The hole on the left side is too small and I have to force the switch through it. Once it's in, It will not go through the hole on the right side of the receiver.
Part of the problem (I think) is the trigger sits just a bit high inside of the receiver. When aligning each hole for the selector, you can see that the trigger is blocking the way of the selector.

    My question is:
Is this due to bad machining/trigger group/LPK/ or is it supposed to be like this and I'm the slow one?

This is my first build and from the videos Ive watched the fire selector switch should just drop right in.

    Any help much appreciated.

Did you cock the hammer back before inserting the selector switch? If not... try that and it should go in.

You kind of need to play with it a little.

Yup, cocked hammer back. Tried numerous times to get it through. Tried spinning it as I attempt to puch it through etc.

Looks I will have to either enlarge the holes or file down the top part of the trigger that is in the way (which may be a bad idea seeing as how I don't know if that part of the trigger holds any true function?)

Don't go enlarging or filing parts till people with more experience chime in.

This is the safety and fire control parts we are talking about. Modifying either without understanding how they function would be a bad (dangerous) idea.

Yes very true... Thanks for the reminder.

I have been doing some more research and have seen that some people have installed the fire selector first then the trigger group... I will try this and see if there is any difference.

Simply remove the hammer. Install the selector and reinstall the hammer. Eat cake. The hammer is acting as a stop for the trigger. This will allow the trigger to pivot past what it will normally do to get the selector in.

I have the same problem. Poster Sicarius, The slector will go im but the hammer wont go forward. At first I thought it was the parts kit. Now I think the slector hole is off.

tried removing the hammer and no luck. not enough room.
tried removing the trigger group and putting selector in first. its better but now the selector will not "click" into place between fire and safe. When its on fire it just wobbles around. When hammer is cocked it will not go into safe.

if the TCG is in and no selector inserted the function is perfect.

I had the same problem, install the trigger and sight through the selecter hole... if the back of the trigger is impeding the hole you likely need to machine the trigger group pocket deeper. That was the problem with mine.

How did you drill the holes in your 80% ? Did you use the fixtures from TM, do it yourself from a print, or a build party? Also, are you sure that you completely deburred the holes inside and out? Also, maybe a picture or 2 would be helpfully, maybe something will jump out to someone.

The "click" will come from the safety detent and spring which will go through hole in the bottom when you install your grip.

Did you drill the FSS hole before or after milling the pocket? I did it before, and regretted it, because my fire selector hole wasnt entirely straight (milled it half way on each side, and there was a bit of an arc to it) so I did end up having to file it. If you do, then do it a VERY little bit at a time. You want it snug and crisp.

You may also have issues if the rear part of the pocket is not deep enough.

Just post some pictures and instead of educated guesses, you'll get definitive answers.
