Precision .308 rifle, $2500.00 range, whats out there?

I recently sold a nice Remington 700 SPS with an XLR chassis, I probably had a couple of grand into that rifle.

I am missing that rifle and was going to build another but wanted to step up in the precision rifle world.
I would like to spend around $2500.00 on a rifle alone without having to wait a year to get it.
I realy would like to buy a completed rifle.
    My ideal rifle would be....

    - A 20-24 inch match grade barrel in .308
    - Already have a quality stock
    - Detachable magazine
    - Threaded barrel or a muzzle brake already installed

    What is out there?

You looking into only bolt action?

You have to spend a crap ton of money to get beyond the accuracy of a Rem 700 and good stock... law of diminishing results.

If you were to go the gas gun route, for a little more you could pick up a GAP-10.

Have a custom rifle build....... RWS does GREAT work and has SUPER fast turn around times.

            Rem700 S/A $350.00 (with old style trigger)
            Brux or Rock barrel $315.00
Manners stock $500.00 (no need for an adjustable lengh or pull or cheeck piece. Just get your lengh of pull measured and buy a stock pack)
PTG AICS bottom metal $135.00 Midwayusa.com
Weaver 20MOA scope base $35.00 (i have 4 of them and they all work fine)
            $1335.00 Worth of parts

            Gunsmith work:
            True Action, chamber barrel $250.00
            Bed Stock $150.00
Muzzle brake and install $175.00 (badger is #1)
            $575.00 work of work

$1910.00 TOTAL for a BAD *** CUSTOM rifle in the caliber or YOUR choice. 308, 243, 260, 7mm-08........

Leaves you 600.00 for a scope. Spend the extra money and buy a 4-16x or 6-24x Vortex Viper PST.........
Thats about as bad *** and accurate you can get..... NO FACTORY RIFLE can touch that thing PERIOD!

There are a lot of very nice used rigs out there that have plenty of life still in them for that price.

You can occasionally find sako trg rifles for that kind of money.

There are a couple tikka options too.

Might consider an HS Precision rifle. I just picked up an HS HTR (Heavy Tactical Rifle) in 378 Weatherby Magnum from SWFA for about 1/2 list price. I suspect the caliber had something to do with that, but it seems these rifles do occasiobally go for less than what one would expect.

How can you buy a USED rifle for 2500? When I gave you the build out of a custom rifle with the best parts for 1900? Thats just stupid not to take the time and built it the way you want one time.
