Its a pretty nice set up.

I have to say that I have owned a LOT of custom 308s, but my Kimber Advanced tactical was out of the box fitted with a great stock and all the bells and whistles, affordable price, stunning accuracy: this is FIVE shots at 100 yards -- a typical group with Federal 165 Gold Medal Match at Angeles --



I sold it because I wanted a 700 with DBM -- (didn't know who'd do one then) regret it at least once a week -- and the guy who bought it from me says he would NOT sell it back to me!



And BTW I love it when someone posts they want a bolt gun and the immediate reaction from some is get an AR. The AR is NOT the be all and end all of all rifles, dudes. It's a good gun, but especially neutered for California, I find them all "Meh."

Oh, my bad. The AICS 10 round magazine for the 300 win mag retails for $130 (check Midway.com) the 10 round 308 is $85.

I have a dozen AICS mags in both 308 and 300win mag and found the C Product mags to be satisfactory in every way. I've had more jams during competitions with the AICS mags than with the C Products mags.

For a nice bolt rifle go with a Sako TRG series, you can always build your own once again for $2500. If you are looking at a semi auto I bought my LWRC REPR for $2500 used, saved about $1200.

get a trg-22 (more saving required before you start adding glass and etc.), if nothing else - it will HOLD resale value.

if it was my $2.5k - I would have bought $1000 howa in 6.5x55swede and spend $1000k on the glass and rest $500 for bipod, rings and ammo . will reach out beyond 300m much better compared to .308

You looking into only bolt action?

You have to spend a crap ton of money to get beyond the accuracy of a Rem 700 and good stock... law of diminishing results.

If you were to go the gas gun route, for a little more you could pick up a GAP-10.

Your best bang for the buck chance is to pick up a used rifle. I suggest the classifieds here in Calguns or over on Snipershide. There are a few customized $2500 rifles to be had.

Well compared to a handgun, the M1A loaded SS is super accurate at 100 yards.
