This ^^ for lube and Ed's Red for cleaning (i.e. equal parts of kerosene, mineral spirits, acetone, and Mobile 1 synthetic ATF).

I use Kopper Kote anti-seize compound. Nice and sticky.

just curious of other peoples input.

I clean it just like any other of my guns.

CLP, brake cleaner, gun oil, etc
all those things have been discussed before with a certain anount of success. In general they all break down grease and grime and so in the battle field if it cleans then it's good. In our case I just use Hoppe's and grease. Were not in the battle field yet. The AK is very flexible because of the large parts and simplicity.

.... or don't lube it at all, it will STILL work. You are treating your AK very well indeed if you actually oil it. Motor oil, 3-in-1, ATF, Ballistol, CLP, etc for the bolt head (lightly, don't overdue it) and trigger group. For sliding surfaces, such as axis pins, rails, etc. White lithium grease or for that matter "any" grease can be used. Keep oil and grease out of the gas system, it will just burn up and turn into black carbon residues.

I use Mobil 1 on all my guns. Bought a quart a couple years ago and the thing still feels about full. It's probably going top last me another decade.

I use mobil1 for everything, ak, ar, scar, handgun whatever. Having said that, atf works even better.

Use Rem oil for rust prevention after cleaning, wipe excess then use Pro Gold grease for moving parts (bolt, rails).
When the world goes to hell in a hand basket I might resort to motor oil but for now I can easily afford products that are made for firearms.

But hey, whatever works for anyone....

Do AKs need to be lubed? I've only rubbed mine down with motor oil (sometimes new and sometimes used) after parkerizing them and later for rust prevention.
^^^ This, it's an ak. It has sloppy tolerances for a reason. So long as it functions and has no stoppages who cares...

Keep in mind that people overseas dont always have the most expensive lube, hell, even bacon grease will do
