I would take one in a heart beat. I always loved how overbuilt and robust Israeli weapons are.

I've liked that gun since I first saw it in Rainbow Six Vegas in 2006. I'd be one of the first in line to buy one if they ever come state-side.

They keep claiming 2012, but I'm not sure I believe it. It's coming, though!

I think I need to play a little rainbox 6 or Cod now. Too hot to shoot and too expensive. My surround I'll have to do!

Canadian gun laws are different than American gun laws.

The work part is easy (to me who's been doing this for over 35 years)... It's the friggin time it takes to deal with all the government bureacracies and to obtain all the registrations, licenses, permits, approvals; in both the US and Israel.

Having said that, I can update you with the following:

                      Mailing Address:

                      IWI US, Inc.
                      P. O. Box 126707
                      Harrisburg, PA 17112

                      Tel: 717-695-2081
                      Fax: 717-412-0873

Please do not call the company at this time to ask when the Tavor SAR will start shipping. IWI US is in an early "start-up" phase and does not have the customer service staff in place to handle a large number of telephone calls at this time. They will in the not too distant future.

Starting next week you will be able to email IWI US at info@iwi.us or sales@iwi.us.

The website is terribly behind schedule, obviously...

And like all things that you want to happen quickly in this life, they rarely do. I was first quoted on the question of "when will IWI have the Tavor available for sale?" at the 2012 SHOT Show, with the response "I hope before the November election". Since SHOT I've often repeated the "October-November" time frame, and more recently hinted of "before year-end".

In hindsight, as events have transpired, it would now appear that these were overly optimistic statements. As just one example of the time it takes to get some government approvals, I can tell you that it can take 9-10 months to get the first commercial quantities of new importable components approved for entry into the US, from start to finish, With finish meaning the arrival in the US facility of the first shipment. The merchandise can be manufactured in one month. The rest of that time is spent in the US and Israeli bureaucracy of licensing and permitting.

I hate to say this, but I don't think Tavors will be available before the end of February and it's quite possible it will be the end of March by the time it's all said and done.

FFL's are obtained, the facility is ready, initial staff is in place....

I know you guys (and gals) have been patiently waiting for a long time. I've been there with you. No one wants to see this happen more than me. Please stick with us a little longer. I promise you, you won't be disappointed.

I will be attending the 2012 Bullpup Shoot at Rockcastle Shooting Center at Park Mammoth Resort in Park City, KY this weekend if anyone wants to come yell at me. I wouldn't blame you.I'll have the Tavor SAR prototype with me.

As soon as the IWI website is launched I will let you know. I 'll let you know what I can, when I can. IWI US is not my company.I wish it was, but not......

Looks great, but for $2k I think I'd take a SCAR given that I won't have to neuter it QUITE as badly. Thanks for the post!

EDIT: Also, are these comfortable to shoot? I've got long arms, and this seems like it'd be VERY small for my body/hands/arms/etc.

I just might snatch one of these up on the used market in a year or two.
Rad, so you'll be paying more than MSRP.

Seriously, how is it that everything on the marketplace is MORE EXPENSIVE than new?

I handled the Tavor at SHOT 2012 and it looked mostly correct, but like I said before the California version didn't sound like it would be available for a while.
