If you want to buy locally, the reloading store at Angeles. Otherwise, try Midway, Cabella's, Brownells, etc.

I use boresnakes when I want a quick clean on my milsurps. To get them real real clean though use the tipton or dewey

I used to use the military 4piece rod cleaning kit like in walmart. I had no idea it chewed up my crown like a rat on cheese. I consider it an emergency cleaning kit for the range to punch out stuck shells or actions (something a boresnake cant do).

For regular cleaning now I use a 1 peice carbon fiber rod, its $40, not cheap, but VERY worth it. if you own 2 or more rifles and shoot them more than a few times a year I would say invest in it and some good adapters, brushes and cleaning equipment.

I had only CLP and the military kit until I moved to TX, but in SoCal I only shot once a year so it was no big deal. In TX the guys at the range saw me enough and pushed me into getting quality cleaning equipment. For me it was worth it. My rifles purr now.

well, i wanted to thank you guys for turning my attention onto the dewey 1 piece rods, i went to angeles range today, and stopped by the reloading store and bought a 26" dewey rod, a couple of dewey brushes, and a 1000 pack of patches, i have to say, im a believer in the dewey rod. it made cleaning the bore really easy, and did a hell of a job, i really liked the ball bearing system in the handle and that the handle was round and not T shaped like the cheap hoppes alum. multi piece rods, and the rod didnt flex as much, which made running patches through it really easy, and really cleaned the bore way better than the hopped rod, and plastic fittings ever could. so thanx guys.
