What size bore brush for 5.56mm?

Just wondering what bore brush size you are all using on your OLL 5.56/.223?

I don't want to get the wrong one, it goes from .22 to .243...

            .22

            Third place

There's no difference in bore brushes between centerfire or rimfire.

              Centefire:
Get all bronze 22cal brushes with 8-32 threads.
Nylon bristle brushes with bronze core is nice to spread solvent throughout the bore.

              Rimfire:
              Highly recommend getting .20cal.

I got these brushes and it seems dang tight in the barrel. Just wanted to double check before pulling it through...

They should be tight! I use a solution of aquios ammonia and dish soap to clean the copper out of my barrels. This soultion, also breaks down brass brushes. So, I have to use a new, tight brush every time I clean. If the brush isn't tight, it's not going to do its job.

dude, get a boresnake and it will make your life alot easier! i refuse to clean my rifles without a boresnake, 2-3 passes, and the bore shines like new.

+1. I rarely need to pull the 'snake thru more than twice. (Depends on bore condition and how dirty the ammo you shot is.)

Thanks again! I wanted to make sure since I'm new to rifles. Will be getting a boresnake also.

I call BS on 2-3 passes with a boresnake resulting in a completely clean barrel.

How many rounds are you boresnake users running between cleanings?
