    VEPR 7.62x54r - First Shots

Just ordered this from Atlantic. Can't wait to get it in my hands and test it out. Also ordered some ammo for it from sgammo.com.
Also have a posp from kalinka on it's way.

    Gotto love tax return's...

I'll update this thread with pictures and a range report.

Please update with range report. It seems most people get them then never say anything about them after.

Get the x54. Better ballistics, bigger is always better and the ammo is cheaper.

Which did you order, the featureless or the thumb hole stock with 23" barrel? I'm eying the featureless version and just stocked up on x54R in anticipation.

I have the 7.62x39 version and LOVE it. Super accurate, fit and finish is far better than any other AK I ahve ever seen as it should be $$$$.

Here is a new review on that rifle you just ordered.

I got the thumb hole stock version. It's cheaper than the featureless. I don't mind the mag lock for range use. I will look into options for filling it though...

Everyone should order one! If you look on Atlantic's website, they have free shipping on a lot of these rifles right now, (at least it was when I ordered). Also, pm Atlantic here and get the discount pricing. I did, and am very happy.

The thumb hole is definitely cheaper, but so far I've convinced myself the extra cost is worth is since i don't need a BB, it has a scope mount included, and if i wanted a muzzle break i would have to thread the barrel myself to install one. Plus my .22 AR has shown me the joys of not needing a BB

Does anyone who has one of these shoot surplus ammo through it? I imagine the chrome lining would remove the vast majority of corrosion concerns but i haven't heard if anyone has done so yet.

Hey guys, just thought I'd mention it, but my scope came in. i got the 4-10x42D VariPosp with AK mount and 1000M Dragunov style rangefinder. So far it seems pretty cool. The adjustable focus lets you get the reticle really sharp.

Rifle hasn't shipped yet, so still waiting to start the waiting period even. :/

Congrats! Also considering it too especially with the cheap ammo! Keep us posted when she arrives!
