I waited months for a SP/LE6920 and my LGS was never able to locate one. Ended up swapping out for a Colt CR6720 (had one in stock) and couldn't be happier. If it wasn't my first AR I would have probably waited longer. Still planning to hunt down a 6920/6940 in the future.

Pretty pricey for a 6940 (assuming we're talking about the same post).

        Monolithic

It might be a good idea to grab a Monolithic upper because other manufacturers like Mega are going to stop making them. Apparently, LMT is getting the patent. I don't know if Colt will be affected though.

I cant wait to buy one!

The Colt LE6940 will be my first ar-15. The upper monolithic reciever is just so sweet and the lower recivever roll marked law enforcement is awesome. Plus its a colt and comes with the name and quality associated with them. They are a little pricy but I think they are worth it.

The monolithic upper is a great value for a free floating rail system - the price difference between the 6920 and 6940 is less than if you bought most standard drop in rails and put them in the 6920.

What part of Cali are you in? I've seen them here in SoCal and bought one in stock a month or two ago. I believe Turner's in Downey still has them in stock.

That guy is dreaming if he thinks somebody will give him $1800 for that rifle. I found my LE6940CA at a shop in San Diego. They wanted $1479 for it, I offered $1400 cash and they took it.

Just like dat1callidude, I just purchased a 6920 with the Magpul funiture for 1,080 today. I made sure it has the LE serial number on it. The rifle is rock solid. The only thing I want to do with it is replace the BB with a Raddlock.

Lets compare apples to apples... the 6940 is completely different from the 6920 and not in the same price range. They regularly retail for $1500. I paid $1450 for mine, but I do agree $1800 is way too much.

How is the 6940 completely different from the 6920? Someone correct me if I'm wrong but the only difference is that built-in rail system on the 6940, right? Also, has anyone seen the 6920 SOCOM? Pretty neat, IMO...

It's subjective, but IMHO, the fully free floating monolithic rail system is a significant upgrade from the standard hand guard, thus the higher price. Replacing the 6920 hand guard with tactical rails would cost just about as much as the price difference to the 6940.

Funny thing is, with my 6920 propped beside my bed I'm thinking "gee, I may need to put a light on this thing so I can see at night-wish I had some rails..." LOL...

Anyway, I decided to build my own. I chose a Noveske Gen II lower with a JP Trigger and Magpul UBR Stock. I'm currently waiting on the Noveske NSR Rail and Recon Barrel to go with the Vltor MUR. I'll Post some pics when she's finished.

Drick - If you want to buy the Colt LE6940CA, it looks like you will have to wait until mid November. The SP6940CA is available now and I've seen it in a few gun shops in the Sac area.
i actually looked at the noveske as well, did you get it yet? if so, how do you like it?
