      Draco

The classifieds are your best bet. They were showing up right and left for quite awhile. Heck, I even thought about getting one, but decided that it is more of a novelty item than anything.

IMHO, they are really impractical for anything other than an occasional, "gee whiz" outing with it at the range. Way too large, heavy and unweildy to be effective as a pistol.

Even though they aren't all that many of them out there, they were showing up right and left in the classifieds. I PM'd a few sellers who reported that it was a fun gun, but impractical and they wanted something else.

Kind of like AR pistols in my view. Some folks love them, but I just don't get it.

Both the AR pistol and the Draco are great for home defense. Lots of power and easy to move around rooms with. With a 500 lumen light and a laser it just doesn't get any better.

Impractical? for shooting under 1-3 MOA at 100m or trying to hold/shot it like a traditional pistol sure. For knock down power for under 100m, AK dependability, light weight, something that will fit in a backpack if it ever ****nitz ever hits the fan and/or when the Zombies attack.... "Priceless"

Although a AR bufferless tube pistol in 300 AAC would be an awesome alternative/complement.

Everything has it place and there is no truly universal 1 fits all scenarios. Buy what you like, shoot the poop out of it and don't worry what everyone else thinks since there will always be something better and more accurate.

Not in Oakland, you aren't. That's what we like to call around here a "Federal Felony".

CA has a separate anti-SBR law, so you still aren't likely to get it in oakland and aren't going to get the tax stamp issued. (unless you are a movie armoror or otherwise "special")

if that is the case why do people have 7inch-10.5inch ar-15 some pistols some not

it can be recorded as whatever with the state but as my property I'm allowed to modify it to whatever I want , and with the stamp it would be a legal SBR.

I could probably have a FFL dealer change it anyway

No, and arguably getting a SBR tax stamp would immediately make the receiver an Assault Weapon (and thus a felony) under California law regardless of if you actually built it into an SBR. You'd probably be issued the stamp, but it's a really bad idea. The Federal government makes allowances under the NFA for private ownership of NFA items, but it doesn't say anything about state or local laws. In California the AWCA explicitly outlaws MGs, SBRs, and SBSes.

Really seriously, if you took an SBR to the range there's a good chance you'd end up in jail pretty much immediately.
