AR Roll Pin????

A buddy needs to swap LPK from one receiver to another. I've only ever installed new LPKs into new receivers. Can the roll pins be reused or is it mandatory to use new ones. Thanks

It's a good idea to use new roll pins, although I've gotten away with reusing them. I wouldn't do that on a weapon someone will depend on in the field, though.

Depends on how well it was put into the lower in the first place. Visual inspection required to determine usability....however...it's a buck, I'd just replace it.

Roll pins are cheap. You can pick them up in any hardware store, OSH, Lowes, etc. Might as well use a new one rather than trying to reuse one that is buggered up.

If his LPK is DPMS, maybe you should re-use the old ones because new ones require a jack-hammer and lots of swearing to get em in.

Small punch and hammer takes 'em right out.

They are cheap but I re-use them ALL THE TIME... Why change them if they are fine..?? I say unless you damage them there is no real need to replace. And I would trust my life to any of my Ar's btw...

when taking out the bolt catch pin use this:

if you buddy doesnt want to buy one just make him buy a new catch and pin you will probably mar the receiver trying to get it out only because getting a straight shot is a little tough.

It depends. I've taken out 3 LPK's that were a breeze to remove, and then I tried to take out a DPMS, and I couldn't get the trigger guard pin to budge.

They go out easier because they are compressed when installed. During installation you have to overcome the tension of the pin and squeeze it while its being pounded in. Minor variations in hole diameter will account for extra force needed to install, but that is only on installation.
