I haven't heard anything bad about PSA, only good.

I'm planning on buying an upper from them, seems like a good deal of the specs you get, but I will be needing a rear sight (saving up for an Aimpoint Pro)
and I like the idea of an A2 style carry handle/sight. Just curious if it is a repackaged UTG that I can get cheaper somewhere else. Otherwise I'm thinking of a Troy fixed rear sight.

Everyone here will tell you troy is the greatest. I really don't like that you can't adjust for elevation though. If you are going with a back up, go with knights armament. They are pricey though. If its temporary get a carry handle with windage and elevation for $80 or w/e, and get your optic later.

Armalite sells a National Match AR10 carry handle for $228, but their standard ones start at $99. The National Match ones usually have an extra pin that keeps the rear sight steady, and they may use finer clicks.

Lot's of cheap airsoft stuff is out there for really cheap. The knobs to adjust the sight are going to be a hell of a lot closer to 1/4" on an expensive one, then something you spend 50 bucks on....that alone is worth it to me. Nothing like simple math, to figure out exactly how many clicks your off, opposed to sitting, clicking 1 or 2 at a time, hoping you get it right next time....don't be that guy at the range.

You have a member that regularly lists used Colt carry handles for $35. (MET1) These are the real deal.

I'm going to revive this because I'm looking for a National Match carry handle. They cost a fortune and wanted to keep looking to find ANYTHING nearer $100 than the $250 mark, but it looks like the RRA for $165 is going to be the ticket.

I'll make you a good deal on my UTG one of I decide its not up to my super high part time operator standards

Not quite $250 but close enough to question so I will answer for you. Regarding match grade components and weapons, they are quite precise in construction and performance. They elevation and windage adjustments are specifically made for use on a 20" service rifle that is well capable of shooting 600 yards and beyond. Regarding most "tactical" items sold, yeah, there is a markup because, well to be honest, too many people out there think that those components really matter. Who gives a damn about a tactical charging handle anyway? Most of the components made for match use and match quality aren't as expensive as you think when compared to tactical stuff. This is because they really haven't changed their prices due to the AR fad. They stick to what they know, do it well and pretty much keep to in their community. But the components that matter, well they can be pricy. Do a little research.
To answer the OPs question, it depends on what kind of shooting your doing. For 95% of everyone out there, any carrying handle will do as long as the elevation and windage adjustments match the sight radius; that is if your making sight adjustments for varying distances. If not, set it and forget it, the base model will be fine for most plinkers. Spend the money on ammo instead.

There are a few important things to consider especially if you are going to have two NM rifles (backup and matchgun, practice and matchgun, etc).

1a. In order to get 10 detents on windage AND 1/4 moa sights you need a custom thread pitch.
1b. In order to get 25 detents on the elevation AND 1/4 moa sights you need a custom rear sight body.
1c. It's very easy to make a half assed 1/2 moa sight on a standard thread pitch but it ends up being more like 1/3 moa.
                        2. Standardize on a hooded aperture system. CLEs and WO are different. I have WO hoods but I am thinking about swapping everything over to CLE hoods.
                        3. Making sure that any tracking pins are perfectly vertical. You don't want a rifle that starts at Zero for a NWZ at 100 and is 16 clicks right for a NWZ at 600. .0058" is 1MOA for a 20" sight radius, if you are off even a bit when you pin that sight you are going to track off zero. As you won't be doing this you may want to pay a really good smith for this work (or buy a known quantity).

It's really worth it to buy a good carry handle from the likes of WO, CLE, or Keystone.
weg: That device is obsolete now. They replaced it with wizards.
frank: Wait a minute. There are more than one wizard? Is [are?] the wizard calibrated?

Now, one more silly question. I've built an old style A2 20" AR's and a varmint type flat top, Now i'm ordering a BCM 16", is there a big difference with the M4 length and Mid length gas systems??? Hope I'm not opening a can of worms.
Yeah, the difference is mid gas is more pleasant to shoot.

These are worth every bit of 33.50 ....I'm not sure if you'd call these Mil surplus or Mil throw away.
