    Hate for Bushmaster

So I bought a bushy about week ago and I see people are bashing bushmaster for not properly staking the gas keys, however I have found that not to be the case they are staked pretty good if you ask me. they've also changed they're bolt design to an advanced bolt design as well,I don't know how long ago they changed it but they've changed from they're old design.

I think they're starting to turn they're quality around now that they're owned by someone else now.

Never had issues with them either. My very first AR is a Bushmaster bought in 1996.

I dislike bushmaster for what they did witht he ACR, but all the bushmaster uppers I've owned have been spot on with zero issues.
But I being poor, have only my dreams. I have spread my dreams under your feet. Tread softely, because you tread on my dreams.

Bushmaster was top of the game back in the day when you only had a few AR choices. Today every company makes an AR. Bushy is nothing special these days. Not bad, but not great. Their purple uppers and un-staked keys turned a lot of people away.

thats the thing if un-staked keys was such a bad issue shouldn't mine be un-staked too?

Naw, they fixed that issue but a lot of guys had their bolt carrier and uppers destroyed from bad QA. It was not a common thing for BM but a bunch were shipped out un-staked or poorly staked. It was a one time flop but it turned a lot of people away. There was a lot of bad press from it.

Eh, I think whatever reputation popped up when there was no recognized alternative to Colt. Back then for popularity there was Colt and there was other -- Bushmaster fell in the second group. Around the turn of the century if I went to the range there'd be one or two other ARs on a really busy day, and those were likely built-from-kit rifles which were a large part of why the "other" group had a bad reputation.

I caught the same crap when I bought a RRA. It was staked just as well as any other gun out there, not to mention the free Chrome bolt was a blessing to clean!

Most folks with those loud voiced opinions don't really know what they are talking about anyways, every wise man I ever met was not quick to just blurt things out, I think that carrys over to forums and the inet as well.

Every company has a lemon or two its just the way it is but putting people off a whole brand is kind of uncalled for. If you go into a gun shop and fail to inspect the rifle before you buy it well then that's your mistake.

My former agency bought a lot of Bushmasters in the last few years before I retired. Most of the rifles did not display any of the deficiencies shown in the m4carbine.net thread other than non-"F" marked front sight bases, but enough did that I spent some time fixing them. Other than parts breakage in the very well-used and not cleaned often enough range rifles, I can't recall any serious problems with them.

I don't have any hesitation about using BM rifles or parts.
I'm retired. That's right, retired. I don't want to hear about the cop who stopped you today or how you didn't think you should get a ticket. That just makes me grumpy!
