building my first ar few ?s

So I've decided to build my first ar seems like a good time with taxes coming and all so here's the questions

First is it difficult to build a ar lower? What would I need? Next lowers and lpks any ideas I live in the east bay (antioch) I could order lpks but the lowers are difficult to find in couple stores I been to and would cost me more to order and transfer thru a ffl so any stores with good prices and good lowers in stock in the east bay ? And what lpks would be good ?

    Uppers
I don't want to spend a arm and a leg so I want to find the best deals I know I want a 14.5 pinned upper after looking online I've really only seen acouple cmmg, bmc and lmt I'm leaning towards towards the bmc I know it doesn't come with the bcg or charging handle so I'm going to have to pay there any ideas on bcgs ? And I've been hearing its hit and miss with the cmmg 14.5 uppers, Quad rails and buttstocks I'm not to worried about getting standard stuff for now so any ideas fellas and please don't bash me or junk the thread and I don't know if this is the right thread to put it in so monitor please move it if its not thanx

It would help if you gave a rough budget estimate/plan/goal for this rifle. Being that it sounds like you are a first timer are you building this to have your first black rifle or because you think it will be cheaper to build it yourself?

      Upper:
Out of the ones you listed, go with the BCM upper, it's pinned from factory. As far as bcg, go with the BCM bcg. You can find standard charging handles for $10 bucks on the for sale section, don't pay $25 for a standard charging handle.

      Lower:
CMT(Stag) and Daniel Defense are great lpk's that have never failed me, I'd stay away from DPMS. Lowers aren't that difficult to assemble, once you build your first one, for the second lower all you'll need is a second pair of hands. On my last build I didn't even need a vice. Get yourself a set of punches and a brass hammer.

I want the knowledge and price to say I built my own rather then bought and I really want a 14.5 upper don't know why and It would be my second ar had to sell my first due to financial reasons but as for budget the 8-1000 range but really the least as possible and plinking, target shooting at 100 yards an less

I believe there is an option to order the BCM 14.5's pined from factory. You don't have to worry about having it pinned or pay extra for the service.

              Who is BMC?
Using gun control to stop crime is like trying to put out a fire with gasoline!
You don't have to get permission to exercise a RIGHT. If you have to get permission or can be told no by the government it is no longer a right. IT IS A PRIVILEGE!

-14.5 midlenght has slightly less recoil. Recoil isn't really a problem in a 5.56 to begin with anyway.
-14.5 carbine has been proven in battle and has stood the test of time.

I like both and have both, don't really have a favorite.

You should post a different question.
where to buy a lower in your area. Everything else can be mail order . Ar15.com has instructions on there website to assemble a lower.
                    Then post questions before building..
once you get your lower you will be surprised how easy it is
to assemble the lower. Selections for a upper are endless
Been gone too long. It's been 15 to 20 years since i had to shelf my guns. Those early years sucked.
I really miss the good old Pomona Gun Shows.
