I'm very happy with my 6920, but honestly now that I've had it for a couple weeks, I'd go with the 6940. I don't need the grenade launcher cutout, and don't use/fully understand co-witness so a folding front site would be nice FOR ME. Also when mounting an optic I now have to go buy a folding rear sight anyway as the handle mount places my Bushnell Trophy too high FOR ME.
Good luck you won't be disappointed

I love Colt and own the 6920 but you are goot to go either way. Pick up the one you can get a better deal on honestly. If you ever have to resell it the Colt lower will go for $400-500 easy.

I really like my Colt 6944 with mono rail. I cvant comment on the DD but if you can get a good price on the Colt I would take it.

Why support colt when it took them this long to get their guns in CA.
I'd own one after I owned every other companies guns. But it goes to show that they don't care about your RKBA in CA no matter how grey The laws are

Then why support Ruger when he was behind the assault weapons ban, "evil features" and 10-cap magazines?

Answer: because these are great guns regardless of the politics behind them.

I'd go DD because the Colt is non-standard. It has that stupid anti-2nd Amendment webbing across the lower. A DD lower with a Colt upper is ok. Going for a complete rifle avoid Colt until Colt recognizes your right to own what the LEO/Military own.

If you are a collector, then a Colt is ok....its the same as owning a Bushmaster fixed magazine sealed 10rd magazine California Top Loading AR15.

I don't think any of us will ever have the right to own what Leo/military have in this state....

Maybe I'm missing something, what's the webbing you are talking about on the colt?

I recommend the DD because of their excellent customer support.

You could get the Colt, sell that upper, and slap on a nice DD upper though.

Either one but I prefer DD and their customer service is top notch

I can tell you from experience. They are both top notch, but if you ever have a problem with the rifle, Daniel Defense has got your back.

Colt adds a thick cross member between both sides of the lower directly over the selector / safety hole to prevent people from using a sear. Its their way of making sure you don't have the ability to convert to full auto without milling out the lower. 99% of all other lowers do not do this...its a Colt thing. Colt doesn't trust civilians to make the right choice and not be a criminal. The DD is a normal AR15 lower with a "low shelf" and if you had the proper paperwork could install a RDIAS. Heck you could even drill a third hole and install a full auto sear if you had authorization to manufacture a machine gun. The "high shelf" is another way to stop this as is installing a plate or Sear block in the lower so an RDIAS or Auto sear can't fit properly.

Daniel Defense because they're flawless unlike some Colts.
