    Tactilite Upper Question

So I'm thinking of getting a Tactilite T2 50 BMG upper and I noticed how you can get the barrel in lengths ranging from 18.5"-32", but there's no price difference between any of the lengths.

So my question is: Is there any reason to NOT get the longest barrel they offer?

IMO, The longer barrel is going to help you by adding weight to lessen recoil & build more velocity. I'd go as long a barrel as they offer. It's not like you're going to be packing it on a hunting trip.

it all depends on the type of shooting you do. I would hate anything longer than 20" for hunting, and thats pushing it. Really 18" is all you need. For close work in bush & brush, 16" is a bit better. Sitting at a bench... its all up to you. a 32" AR15 barrel would look like a Zulu spear...

Where would you think he would go out hunting with this rifle Jurrasic Park?

I have a question in regards to this. Is it illegal in california to have a 50 bmg rifle? You have to go with the 50 dmc. All calguns guru can you shed light on this
          App Mailed = 7/12/21
          Interview/Live Scan = 4/13/22
          CA/FBI = 4/13/22 Firearms = 7/26/22
          Proceed to Training = 8/7/22
          Training Sent = 8/29/22 Received = 9/1/22
          Email Add Document / Submitted = 9/30/22
          Call for pickup = 11/28/22
          Pick Up = 12/01/22

Your thinking of .50 dtc. And yes it's illegal to have a .50 bmg rifle if it's not a RAW or have permits from law enforcement or military.

Owning the upper in CA is not illegal seeing as there's no constructive possession of AWs. So as long as it's not mated to a lower you're GTG.

Unless you're going to handload heavy match ammo, anything longer than 32" is probably not going to do you any good. (plus the ammo would be too long for the magazine and would have to be single fed anyway...) Mossberg barrels aren't exactly known for exceptional accuracy either. Go with the Lothar Walther offering if you plan on a longer barrel with heavy match ammo.

Most tactical .50s are 29-30" and will shoot surplus 'ball' ammo at 2900-3000fps. Most target loads try to shoot at 2600-2700fps for more accuracy from that barrel length.

In my experience, I lose around 200fps going from 29" to 22" barrel lengths with the same ammo load.

                          Here's a 647gr Barnes TSX bullet recovered from a customer's hog after it was shot from a 29" FAR-50 conversion (in .50DTC)
