    Moving to California

    Greeting all,

I am moving to California soon for employment reasons.

I have done research on this, and would like to confirm my research with personal experience should anyone have.

I have an AR15 here in Florida, and for the move, I have already purchased a bullet button and 10 round magazine.

Is there anything else I need to do to my AR to make it California legal?
How about getting it there? can I put it in the moving container or do I need to get it shipped via FFL?

Thanks for any help you can offer.

Gotta make sure the lower isn't on the ban list as well.

I recommend this bullet button for it's dual positioning.

That weapon is CA approved so you should be ok. Not sure about the process of registering it though. Someone will chime in about that soon I'm sure.

install the bullet button before you get here

EDIT. OP answered model, and it is kosher here with BB. Bring extra 10 round magazines, as you can swap them out using a tool. And bring as many non-rostered handguns as you can afford, as you can bring them into the state when you move, AND sell them privately (through an FFL) once you get here. 1911 frames are always popular. You might also look at bringing AR pistol lowers with you, though I am sure somebody here will chime in with the legalities of that.

Long guns are not registered (yes, I know some banned semi-auto rifles and .50 BMG rifles are registered but the registration is not open to new registration for subjects of the Peoples Republik of Kaliforniastan) Only handguns

Now the question is how long will you stay before you turn around and head back to free America

Your really going to hate this place far as the firearm laws.

Ok, I do have a pistol that is coming with me, it's an HK45. How would the process differ with that?
