What would you recommend for an urban environment?

I'm trying to fill the range holes in my collection. Currently have a Benelli M4, LWRC M6A3 DMR ( NF NXS 2.5-10X ), and a S/A 1911 TRP.

Decided I'll do precision rifle later since it'll be the most expensive, and do a urban / close range rifle first.

What would be an ideal firearm and caliber for an urban environment?

AK? Another AR but with a 16"? Handgun caliber rifle? S/A Socom 16?

Would 7.62 / .308 be overkill penetration at these ranges?

Or should I just skip all this and substitute the Benelli for this job?

My choice would be a M1A Scout rifle...short enough to be "Urban" and enough power to get the guy behind, brick, block, or BP vest...

oh, you said rifle...nevermind. But, in an urban environment, do you want to be carrying a full size 1911 as a secondary weapons system?

AR/AK what ever you prefer though in a rifle cal not pistol. Shotgun is an excellent option too. I'd rather have a simple pump though then an auto shotgun but that's me. Heck I don't get into those new fangled striker fired and stick to wheel guns and 1911's so if that says anything.

The us decided the M4 was the ideal rifle for urban scenarios.
The russians decided the Ak74 is the one rifle to have for urban fighting.
The germans went with a G36
            The french famas
            The brits chose the sa80
            Belgium went with the fnc
Many 3rd world countries decided on the ak47

What do you think will be ideal for your hard core urban fighting needs? Do you expect to be in any firefights in the near future?

Or is this just a fun gun?

The M2 is a better option then the overweight M4, IMHO, insofar as shotguns are concerned, especially if you plan on humping all that stuff around when the Chinese zombies invade.

I carry a colt commander and a s&w 360 as a back up and use these in my local match's as well as my back up to my rifle.

I was taught a pistol is only good for these things

                    1) to get to your rifle
                    2) to transition too if you run out of ammo in your rifle
                    3) to not be captured alive

I actually think u are set. Put a offset rmr or t-1 on the lwrc for quick shots.
If you really want another gun though, lightweight 14.5" ar-15 with a t-1

Along these lines, I love my new XD9. Bought it for this very reason.

The M4 is actually really light compared to the LWRC. It's weight doesn't even bug me one bit. Like hell I'd hump around 3 long guns and a handgun.

There are tight corners in a mall, ya'know? Note sarcasm. I'm just looking for a fun gun. Whatever that means. Nothing wrong with wanting to fill a hole in my collection.

Never really thought about this. Very nice idea, thanks.
