What's wrong with the 30-06? It has a flatter trajectory and more range when compared to the .308.

i dont care for the 30.06 and shoot mainly 7mm.it doesnt have to be .308 but something else would be nice.its such a nice gun i hate for it to just sit there.
i have reloading dies for 7mm rem,7mm weatherby,300 win mag.

You can give it to me......
Give the 280AI or 280 a Look. Its just bascially a 7mm-06.... Good round. You can use your current action and dont need to have a crazy *** mag.

You can rechamber it easily to any cartridge that has the .473 casehead diameter. If you want to go to a magnum cartridge you will need to machine the bolt head out to fit the .532 case head and replace the extractor. You will also have to tweak the feed lips/rails to feed the fatter cartridges.

It's easier to sell the 30.06 and buy another gun.

Get the action trued and build a .280 Remington.
