The only U.S. ball .308 we'll see for sale will condemned lots broken down as components. The Army is still shooting WW2 .50 ball for training so any serviceable 7.62 will be shot for training or service issue. Maybe LC cosmetic rejects will make it out for sale via Federal but that isn't surplus per se.

Actually, reading some of the books about PMC's in Iraq/Afghanistan was rather interesting. Blackwater (and triple-canopy, etc) discovered after awhile that "Hey, why pay American ex-mil $$$$$ when we can get South Americans (hondurans, panamanians [central americans :P], peruvians, etc) to do the same work for only $$". Wages for American contractors seemed to plummet.

Now, that work they were giving to south americans/asians was guard duty in a lot of cases, and for guarding high profile US civilians I'm sure they still used American ex-mil, but still.

We shouldn't be so quick to make a connection that "more contractors" = "more US jobs"! Ditto the idea that hiring contractors saves us money over using US military (see Haliburton et al). Moral of the story: don't trust anyone!!!!! lol

That ammo is either going to be sold locally to PCs, or "donated" to the local military/police. Don't count on it coming back to the US and being sold on the civilian market.

You're running out of time. If you really want a PTR & some fodder for it, whip out the cash & get it now while it's available. As it get's closer to election time, folks will hoard both guns & ammo like in 2009 where they were happy to pay 2x value just to have it.
