Go to Remingtons web site and look up your model and caliber and it will tell you what twist you have. Slower the twist the lighter the bullet, slower the twist the more heavy the bullet you can use. Think either you twist was to slow for a light bullet or your bullet went subsonic.

If I'm wrong somebody will correct me.

I don't think Spencer is ready to be sitting at the grown ups table.

The remington was a gift for xmas and my mossberg 817 is all me, minus the scope which was a gift. I dont shoot the 700 as much due to ammo costs.

And im sorry, but i dont ever remember you witnessing me shoot any firearm ever. Jerry tierny and the rest of the palma team was comfortable having me shoot along side them.

Im more safety oriented with shooting than most people i have ever met.

And i never once hit another persons target, and i STARTED at 800 yards and was keeping up with the grown ups.

Call me crazy but im gonna listen tothe pros rather a bunch of people sitting behind a keyboard who have never seen me shoot.

The brown paint you added is good for another 2-300y easy. That suckers not bone stock at all anymore........With a good paint job, it's almost the same as cheating

ok so i made the decision today that i am going to convert my R700 to .17 Rem fireall. I LOVE its ballistics and found that the 25 gr V-max has a BC of .230.. the highest out of any .17 cal. My dream of being the first to use a .17 centerfire for competition may not be so far off...

How far do you plan on pushing that little .17?

Congratulations on getting out there and not being an armchair commando

Jerry and the Palma crew are good people, and some of the best long range shooters in the country. You couldn't ask for a friendlier more helpful person than Jerry.

Now you need to come shoot in the matches.

Thanks I wish to do just that!

I plan on taking the little .17 cal all the way out to 1000 and if the right ammunition is produced, maybe even further. Or i could just make my own wildcat just for the sake of getting a .17 out that far.

The NCPPRC - tactical long range - has a scheduled practice next Saturday. It's open to anyone who shows up. They start at 200 yards and work their way back to 1000. Bring your rifle out and have some more fun.

Pay your regular range fee at the public range office, then be in the target pits by 8:30. Sign in with the NCPPRC and pay them their range fee, and help set up targets.

Safety brief will be between 8:30-8:45. Then they start shooting. 2 relays. One shoots the whole way out while the other pulls and marks targets, then they switch off.

I'd advise signing up for first relay to minimize shooting in any wind.
