Just got back from another range outing. today was more of a "blow off some steam day" so i only even attempted 3 groupings. my final five shots were aimed at the center target and all landed in ~1.2". mind you thats also me forgetting to take my "anti seizure" (they help me control my tremors) meds. i had 2 other random consecutive 3 shot groupings that i werent actually attempting to group, i just aimed at the same place and pulled. both groupings were shot consecutivly after eachother. seems like the rifle is finally breaking in. sorry, i chopped the target at the range and forgot to save the whole thing, just the groups. heres the groups (y'all dont have to believe im that good of a shooter, Just entertain my questions. this thread isnt as much for all of you as it is for documenting my rifle and how it progresses so i have something to look at for reference in the future other than my range book.

and im fairly proud of this grouping because they were my last 5 shots plus i didnt have any tremor control other than myself and i feel i did pretty well for that today. even my friend who i brought was pretty impressed with how much it looked like my rifle was "vibrating" as he described it. lol

I have to say, Im really loving this new rifle, and in my opinion, its one of the best I have personally handled, saying it is bone stock except for the scope. I think the stock has got to go though; It's a little uncomfortable and EXTREMELY hard to control with my tremors. I really think a thumbhole would give me the extra stability that im looking for. Any thoughs on that?

updated range report as of 12/29/11

so i made a trip to USI to see how my knee was doing after my surgery and its healed! anywho the important art of today was my accurracy. i kept almost all 20 rounds from a box of .243 prvi partizan ammo in my target area. heres a pic:

and heres a measurement of the part that was a 10 shot group with only 2 fliers not counted (the shots to the direct left of the measured grouping arent a consecutive group, 2 of those are fliers and one was shot when not aiming at the target area, i had to reset my scope with how much wind there was last time time i used it) :

      lemme know what you think!

Above target looks more realistic for ammo/rifle combination. Minus the one out left, it looks pretty good!

Now, your next step is saving all that pretty .243 brass for when you start reloading.

Thanks! Wayyy ahead of you on saving brass i have 200 out of the 240 rounds i have put through this rifle saved in their little holders without packaging neatly in a little box under my bed. Im trying to make sure i keep all of the different brands seperate, especially prvi partizans. They use a smaller diameter primer than the winchesters and remingtons i have used.

Speaking of which those prvi partizans are looking pretty damn accurate fpr $13 a box. Better consistancy than the remington ammo i used. I wont count the winchester because i only tried jhp's with those in one weight.

Still have a humdred more PP's to go thrpugh before i get to switch it up and try a different weight round. I REALLY want to try some fmj's out of the 700 for some reason i feel my results will be more consistant.

I also got my heartbeat timing down durring the last 3 or 4 shpts at the range today. Figured out that when im shooting my heart rate is around 60bpm and my trigger pull is slow so if i count 4 beats for one cycle i figured i would do six cycles of listening to my heartbeat before shots and on the seventh cycle i would begin to pull my trigger a
Halfway through the second beat and it would shoot betwwen the 7th and 8th beat cycle.
If any of you could follow that i applaud you. Lol it took me a VERY long time to get this down and i had to re-learn it for this rifles trigger.

Not evwn the fairly noticeavle barrel flaw on my rifle seems to be affecting my accuracy.

The Prvi 7mm Mauser I have shot and reloaded uses large rifle primers. 243 should use standard large rifle type, just like 308. If anything, Prvi brass has slightly deeper pockets than Lake City.

I like Prvi as well for price and quality. When I buy a gun chambered in a caliber I don't load for, I typically buy some Prvi just to get shooting, save the brass and reload it later. It's decent brass, from my experience.

                  who is Gecko? lol.

i just measured the primer spaces on the brass. winchester is 1 hundreth of an inch larger than the prvi's. probably not enough to warrent different primers.

Im thinking about painting part of my stock on the R700, just the grip cutouts on the forend and handgrip. i was thinking of going with a brown or OD green but i cant decide.

I think you should paint racing stripes on it and add some chrome.

the reason i wanted to go with brown is because of all the fallen trees i seem to find myself shooting off of when i hunt so my thought was it might be a good place to put some brown to make the part that rests on the tree blend in more.

Brown is an amazing color my friend. Reminds me of bears. I do love me some bears. I am glad you like my sig. I may have it trademarked.
