Muzzle brake for a Rem 700 SPS Tac AAC-SD?

The Remy 700 AAC-SD comes with threaded barrel. Although it would be tacticool, is there any noticeable benefit to having a brake for the .308. And what brakes do people prefer for their bolt rifles? One person recommended the JP brake, any others? Thanks!

I run the PWS brake (not brake/flash hider combo) & it's awesome. Huge recoil reduction.

I ended up getting a Smith Enterprise Good Iron muzzle brake. I ordered directly from them.

          1. No directions or recommended torque settings or anything. In the box was the brake, jam nut, credit card receipt and an advertising flyer. That was kind of lame, I was expecting some kind of documentation as weak as it may have been.

          2. Going back to the jam nut, not sure why they went with a jam nut instead of a crush washer. At least with a crush washer I only have one potentially moving piece, the brake. With the jam nut, I now have two possible moving pieces because in order to properly index the brake at the 12 o'clock position, the jam nut definitely wasn't screwed all the way to the end. Using two crescent wrenches and loctite blue, I "locked" the brake to the jam nut. I rubbed some of the finish from the barrel where the wrench made contact.

to touch up your barrel they make special marking pens to touch it up.
a black magic marker or sharpie is too dark. i know turners and riflegear has them.
Been gone too long. It's been 15 to 20 years since i had to shelf my guns. Those early years sucked.
