Currently they have a prototype mount for the Aimpoint Micro pattern sights. It looks awesome. Military Arms Channel just did a T&E video on it.

Either one of these or just go with a Russian red dot intended for the AK.

I prefer the Midwest Industies/US PALM specific optic rail. It also allows 1/3 cowitness with stock AK irons.

Been wanting to pick on of these up for my next AK.

Just like all other Russian side scopes for AK's, it slides on the rail and lock in by a lever.
Most AK's have this rail built-in at the factory, unless it was homemade and they didn't add one.
Quite a few U.S companies who build AK's, cheap out and don't bother installing one.

OK, this is what I'm asking about. The rail on the side of the receiver that looks to be rivited. How hard is it to put one on after the fact?

The rail should be installed when the rifle is being built. Also you will want to use an AK74/100 forked style rear trunnion. A 2 rivet trunnion works but getting swell neck rivets that size is very tough.

Say that I have an existing rifle that is already built. What is the going rate for having the mount riveted onto an existing Rifle?

Does anyone know of a gun store or gun smith in the San Jose Bay Area that they would recommend to do the work?
