    308 brown bear

so I am tempted to buy some brown/silver bear ammo because of price. What kind of accuracy/consistency can I expect from it at about 200-300 yds out of a savage axis 308. Wal-mart Federal holds pretty tight groups at those ranges, about 2.5 MOA with my untrained self.

If I can't expect even that, should I just buy some for shooting 2 liter bottles at that range?

I got some brown bear .223 and at 100 yards it is all over the place out of my savage edge (same gun as your axis)
That punk pulled a Glock 7 on me. You know what that is? It's a porcelain gun made in Germany. Dosen't show up on your airport X-ray machines, here, and it cost more than you make in a month.

Buy a box or two, and send em down range. Like *all* ammo, even match grade stuff, some guns like certain brands and hate others, and the only way to tell is to buy a box and send em flying down range.

My savage likes The Bear..good enough for government work.

Only way to know is to try it out really. I have seen some silver bear hold fairly well at 200 yards with a built AR. I've been itching to pick some up and try it out in my socom.

exactly what I was thinking. If it doesn't work well in my gun, I can resell it to my uncle who will no doubt want it for his M1A

WOW! I'm not trying to be mean or anything but how can anyone be happy with 2.5MOA rifle? That would piss me off to no end!
Using gun control to stop crime is like trying to put out a fire with gasoline!
You don't have to get permission to exercise a RIGHT. If you have to get permission or can be told no by the government it is no longer a right. IT IS A PRIVILEGE!

buy a box of each and test them out.

silver said to be more clean and better then brown.

That may be his skill, and not what the rifle is capable of.

It may be his ammo selection, and not what the rifle is capable of with match ammo.

An M1A with surplus ammo is a 2-3 MOA gun. My stag model 8 AR is a 2-3 MOA gun with surplus ammo, and a 1-1+1/2 MOA gun with M855 rounds.

Not every rifle is a sub MOA gun, and not every shooter is a sub MOA shooter with a sub MOA gun.

most likely hand loads or match grade.

it's me for sure... though I am getting better. When I say 2.5 is a tight group... that is speaking from my definition of "good." At first I could consistently hit a 1' x 1' paper at 200 yards... and that is all I could say. Now I can generally hit where I want to hit... I feel it getting tighter, especially when I buy better ammo. Brown Bear would probably be used for 2 liter bottles at 100 yds. just something cheap to go boom

Hypothetically, one round in your heart, second round 2.5" off from the first. Tell me which one hurts more.
