    EOTech 3x magnifier question

    Guys,

Got a quick question for you. Can you run a EOTech and a 3x magnifier on a AR15 with a fixed front sight? Will the front sight appear in the magnifier?

I ask because I am getting a CMMG M4 upper with a fixed front sight for my next AR build.

The front sight should not get in the way, you should be ok.

I have an eotech 516 which has a 7mm raised base, along with an aimpoint 3x magnifier with a Larue tall FTS mount. The front sight is hardly visible though the magnifier and is a 1/3 cowitness.

Good to hear. I am thinking about getting a LaRue EOTech mount to raise the HWS and magnifier up a little for a lower co-witness.

So even without a riser mount the front sight will NOT be visable at all through the magnifier or will a little bit still appear?

If you don't have an EOTech yet they have models with a built in 7mm riser for 1/3 co-witness.

My cell phone pics aren't the greatest, but here's a side by side looking thru a 3x Aimpoint + Micro with the front sight of my SR15 down on the left and up on the right. The mount height is absolute co-witness.

It is visible, but it's somewhat blurred out. If you want to get an idea of the mirage image, take your index finger and point it upwards, then place is about 2" from your eye. It's right there but hardly impedes your ability to see.

              Hope this helps.
