    Help with Aimpoint PRO

    Hello to all,

I just got and Aimpoint PRO for my AR and love the sight, but the mount is giving me some trouble. The knob will not either open the clamp or provide clamping pressure. It just spins in both directions. Is there a trick for using the factory mount? Am I missing something?

I have contacted Aimpoint for help, but they have not responded. I would like to take my AR out to the desert this weekend, but I guess I might have to wait.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Yes the knob is just spinning in place. It is the same for either direction.

I have applied some downward pressure, but don't want to break it.

are the "teeth" engaged like in this picture? I know it has a torque-limiting feature that works while tightening, but I can't see how it would slip going the other way, unless something is really out of whack.

It sounds like there is a problem with the mount. It's a QRP2 mount correct?

Yes the teeth are engaged. I guess I got a bad mount. Now I just have to see if Aimpoint will make it right. They have still not contacted me. I have a feeling this sight won't be going on for some time.

                Sounds like stripped threading.

Can you verify that the thread is stripped? Maybe the threads aren't engaging cuz you have to put some clamping force on it so they engage.

PM me for a great contact @ Aimpoint. If they don't fix it (which i'm 99.9999% sure they will) I have a slightly used one I'll give you for free.

I just got home and took mine apart (from a m4 anyway, so close enough) just in case I missed something, its gotta be stripped.

PM sent Tom, thanks so much for the offer of help!

Mr. Plink- I think you are right on the money. I just took it out of the safe a checked again. The knob simply turns, it has to be stripped. I do not want to attempt to remove the cap on the end of the knob to verify this, but that is the only thing I could guess is going on.

Call them up and see if they will coach you over the phone and if not I bet they will replace it. Or you could just give me the aimpoint seeing it's damaged
