DON'T LEAVE **** ON THE GROUND IN PUBLIC PLACES. Why is that hard? Police your brass (etc).
I pulled out my BLM map and showed him that where we were was BLM land. We were packing up at the time and getting ready to leave, so I didn't make a big deal about it.

Anyways, I hate cleaning others messes too, but its worth it to keep the gem open. I personally never leave brass or hulls because I reload them...

So who is this ranger funk guy? Sounds like a jerk.

Me and my buddy are going for a trip out there in the first week of August. You should come.
Iras out there about a month and a half ago, and the steel was still there, then when I went last week, it wasn't.

Ranger Funk is the local BLM ranger. He's okay most of the time, but I get the feeling that he gets tired of dealing with retards all the time so he acts like a dick sometimes.

If be down to go with you guys, but I can't that weekend. I'm an instructor for Appleseed, and we have an event that weekend up at Rainbow Range. You should come

Not gonna happen. I'm a mirror: if he treats me good I'll treat him good. When he's a dick I'll be a dick.

When you talk to Funk, he says he frequently cleans some of the shooting areas, but mostly mentions clays... it could have been him or some other BLM personnel that thought the steel was trash. I don't think he means to come off as a dick... I just think he has a ****ty job trying to police a huge area. Either way, it sucks to see that area get trashed. I usually shoot at a spot nearby, but not BBM. I've been there twice recently and the ground was littered with a bunch of casings from others, so I grabbed as many of them as I could and tossed them in my bucket.

if your any kind of shooter you would know that piece of steel was a fine plinker! and was specifically hanging up at a perfect pistol distance. 223 wouldn't even dent the thing barely scratched it, even my slugs looked like it pancaked on it very difficult to determine it as trash seeing how it weighs around 50lbs non the less we know better know i sill have a few more steel targets . and jshoebot your more hen welcome to use any steel i have when we hit the spot. BTW you wouldn't be the guy with a 7mm would you???

Nope, no 7mm in my safe. I mostly shoot Russian stuff, x54r and x39, some .223 and 9mm as well. Every once in a while some .30-06.

I've found the best way to keep people from dragging away your steel targets out there is to hang them up at 450 to 1000 yards away

Whenever we go shooting, we always bring a rake, shovel & garbage bags. It's not that hard to clean up, at the very least leave it in a nice neat pile instead of everywhere. We're thinking about bringing tarps next time to lay down on/next to the shooting area to make cleanup a breeze.

LOL...I thought you were using "Brokeback Mountain" in reference to the shooters being gay! Double meaning in this case Very clever!

Well some guys "cleaned" it up on a whole different level since 06/04/11. They stole a large piece of quality shooting steel that we left hanging on the rust heap for everyone to use. It was about an inch thick, and perhaps 12x12. It had chains welded to it so you could hang it.

We have left things there before so people could use, and it is all still there. People are even cool enough to clean up the things we leave once they get shot beyond use (pallets, tiles, whatever). We have even seen others leave brand new targets under a rock for others to use. Thats why we figured it would be ok to leave something more robust and fun then simple throw away targets. Well I guess we thought wrong...

Its disappointing to say the least. I expected more out of my fellow gun owners...We will not be contributing any more items to the spot because of the incident. Tis' a shame...
So, you are irked that someone cleaned up your trash?
