    Dear Brokeback Mtn Shooters: WTF?!?!

Me and my buddy Scope Eye have been frequenting this shooting spot for some time now. We always notice the place is well kept, and moderately clean...

Well some guys "cleaned" it up on a whole different level since 06/04/11. They stole a large piece of quality shooting steel that we left hanging on the rust heap for everyone to use. It was about an inch thick, and perhaps 12x12. It had chains welded to it so you could hang it.

We have left things there before so people could use, and it is all still there. People are even cool enough to clean up the things we leave once they get shot beyond use (pallets, tiles, whatever). We have even seen others leave brand new targets under a rock for others to use. Thats why we figured it would be ok to leave something more robust and fun then simple throw away targets. Well I guess we thought wrong...

Its disappointing to say the least. I expected more out of my fellow gun owners...We will not be contributing any more items to the spot because of the incident. Tis' a shame...

you're assuming it was fellow shooters. I've seen some of those unregulated ranges get cleaned of anything of value by the scrap guys and crackheads. It was wierd going to a range and not even seeing a .22lr casing on the ground.

Not sure where you were shooting, but if it is near the desert then mark another vote for the meth heads. I shoot out there a lot and always see strange folks crusing the desert on meth missions.

        Sorry to hear about this.

Maybe someone felt the crap you left was junk people left or dumped, and decided to clean your mess? Or it got shot to crap since you last saw it and the people who haul away the stuff you guys leave took it since it was junk and want to keep the land clean to prevent closure. Just a thought.

I doubt someone did it to be a dick, way more likely some ******* took it for scrap or someone was concerned it would get the range closed.

I was just out there last weekend, and I noticed that the steel was gone too. That's us that leave targets out there for other shooters

Also, whoever was there before us left about a thousand fired shotgun shells laying all over the place. We cleaned it all up, but it sucks having to clean up other peoples' mess. That's one of the justifications BLM uses to shut down shooting spots.

Also, Ranger Funk came and tried to tell us that's private property, and we can't shoot there.

I'm starting to dislike that guy more and more. I can see why the Border Patrol agents don't like him very much.

What'd you tell'em? Did he make you leave?

DON'T LEAVE **** ON THE GROUND IN PUBLIC PLACES. Why is that hard? Police your brass (etc).

                        Hey jshoebot,

glad to finally meet another cool regular to the spot...So you saw the piece of steel hanging off the car? When was the last time you noticed it, and when was the first day you saw it gone?

Anyways, I hate cleaning others messes too, but its worth it to keep the gem open. I personally never leave brass or hulls because I reload them...

So who is this ranger funk guy? Sounds like a jerk.

Me and my buddy are going for a trip out there in the first week of August. You should come.

I'll probably head out there in the next few months. Maybe I could leave some steel behind? I wonder if a box with a combo lock would be a good idea. Then post the combo here? Seems a little more secure, and it won't be mistaken for trash and less likely to get picked up for scrap.

Would probably only perk the tweekers/scrappers interest more, most likely would just take the whole shebang.

I am not sure where BBM is but I shoot in a similar area and I am fed up with hauling other peoples **** away that they are "considerate" enough to leave behind. Take everything you shoot out including your brass, or we will loose it just like Orosco Ridge...placed looked like a ****ing dump before they shut it down.

Oh and by the way we should be kissing JF's *** as he is one reason we have back country places to shoot.
