Picture isn't showing so can't really comment on it - post a link to the page. What is so special about this particular gas block? It may be more cost effective to just buy a one piece gas block from the get go.

curious.... why do you want it welded? is it to get rid of the side bulges where the screws are?
you don't rise to the occasion,
you just fall back on your level of training.

Is this where we start the debate between pinned or bolt on gas blocks as why wouldn't you just buy it and bolt it on and get on with it.. This hardly seems worth the effort as the welding is 1 thing, then correctly making the pin holes and pins and... install it correctly, it will hold just fine as they do for thousands of others.

If I could make my own gas block the way I wanted it I would.

To answer the other question. I want it pinned after it's one piece for peace of mind - that's it

Go out and buy a dremel tool and some spair cutters/grinders. Watch this video and have fun. On a good note if you screw it up the replacement parts to try again are dirt cheap.

I think this has fail written all over it. The prep & welding that has to be done and sizing of the gas block just perfectly and not have it shift or expand and contract in any way - ending up with a precise I.D. to snugly fit the barrel at the end - and then still having to drill precisely placed holes and getting pins & having it all come together.. man, what an effort.

And if you worried about "piece of mind" for some reason - though thousands of people have bolt on gas blocks - you better check all of your bolts on your weapon as anyone "could" come loose, but will not if properly installed.

                      Weld and cuss

If the removable clamps/straps are welded to the upper body of the gas block, it will warp slightly and will definitely shrink the final hole size. The straps are spaced to allow tightening to the barrel and this allows for major shrinkage...........

You would need to be sure all was aligned and spaced properly prior to welding and then hone on a automotive wrist pin hone machine back to final size. For this, it would need to be close to final size first.

It can be done but will require attention to detail throughout the process.

It does seem like finding a one piece that works for you would be easier as some have posted.

                      Good luck.

If you installed it, tightened the screws & then either welded the screw heads to the block body or welded the seam together, it will be permanent. If you're concerned about it shifting at that point, you're likely to have other problem at the same time.

I run Daniel Defense gas blocks & run a small TIG weld around the screw head to the block body so it can never come loose. Rock solid.

If you want peace of mind, add loctite.

That gas block will have a gap between the two pieces when attached to the barrel so that when the bolts tighten it has a clamping ability. If you weld it together it will be too small.

                          not going to work.

There, I just saved you $100 gas block and like $50 in wasted labor. I'll take a 10% commission payable with pay pal.

What about doing what they do to the gas key bolts. My mind is blanking on what that's called right now. They dent it to prevent it from turning. whats that called ???
