Can i buy a FAL type reciever in cali? Does it need a bullet button to have a pistol grip? Are fals on any ban list? Sorry for being all over the place i would just like to get a FAL. thanks guys

In short yes you can buy fal recievers, yes you need a BB if you u have evil features, yes some models are on the CA AW list.

Not sure if Dan Coonan is making receivers again, I have used 1 of the DC Receivers before and they were top notch.

Springfield Armory SAR 48 is also on the ban list; it was an FAL built under license by Imbel in Brazil.

Pro-tip, use the OLL flowchart linked above.

FAL "bullet buttons" are available but I prefer top loading a fixed mag FAL, it doesn't mess up the looks of the rifle.
