Rebarrel Remington 700 in LA Area

    Hello to all,

I would like to rebarrel my Remington 700 BDL with a barrel that matches the factory contour. I was hoping to find a gunsmith in the LA area that could do this.

I contacted a shop in OC that wanted nearly 900 dollars to do this. I think I would just rather buy another rifle for that price.

Another shop I contacted only works on tactical rifles.

Is there a reputable shop in the LA area? I have tried to google for gunsmiths, but could find no definitive information.

    Thanks for any help,

    Matt

Come to http://CAPRC.com and contact AR15barrels.

He has a site http://ar15barrels.com , but it is better to contact Randall through his club's forum.

He is a very reputable gunsmith (for R700's and AR's) and recognized by pretty much anyone on here and other forums.

You could probably find someone to rebarrel it, including the barrel blank for around $600, and it would shoot so much better than it left the factory.

Is your old barrel burnt out? You probably could just have it throated if it hasn't already been done before

Edit - Actually it is probably better to go aftermarket and get a better than factory barrel since the labor is the same.

              I actually want to change from a 7-08 to a .243.

I load for the .243 and shoot it a lot. It is an older model Remington BDL and I like the older safety that locks the bolt and the look of the stock. I guess it is a retro sort of thing...
