Sadly, I no longer go there because because the transfer fees got jacked up to $75, and the staff is now completely retarded. I drossed an HK USP 9mm there about 6 months ago, and half-way through the DROS process I was tempted to have the firearm shipped somewhere else... anywhere else, because these guys didn't have a clue about the paperwork.

I do like Rodger's Relics and Irvington Arms, but they require a trip "over the hill". <sigh>
I'm in the salinas area and rogers relic is drive in a half but lisa's got my business. The local store Trigger Hill does'nt have much in stock like the old days and don't even talk about OLL or what is legal on a upper, ever thing is illegal to them.Just having them look at my .308 upper with a lug on it they almost ****, yet they sold me a 20"A2 upper on a fab worthless 6 months prior with a flash suppresor. I wish people in these positions would read and learn the laws and not go by something they saw on TV or read in the papers. But other than that issue their a bunch of good guys and always treat me well

City Arms in Pacifica is definitely the place to go if you live around San Mateo/SF area. The russians behind the counter are knowledgeable and helpful.

I have to mention another Calgunner, Tim at Fort Courage Armory in Simi Valley. While his shop is not stocked to the gills with hi-tech weaponry, the service I got blew me away. I got a Stag OLL from him and the whole process could not be easier. The paperwork/DROS took almost no time and I also got a chance to handle a nice Stag rifle, looked at Chip McCormick trigger and talked about guns with a guy that loves them, shoots them and knows what he's talking about.

I really like Ammo Brothers in Cerritos. My dad and I go there on weekends, usually just to get some more .357 mag reloads. Turners Norwalk is really slow - going in and saying I WANT THAT ONE takes an hour. Haven't been to Ade's yet, but going this week.

We must be shopping there on different days. Look for Lenny (I think that's his name...). He's the dude with the star of David chain on his neck.

Thankyou! I'm actually one of the three smiths in the back at J&G. And BTW we've moved out to a larger store in Granite Bay. I actually have no part in sales at all, I just hide in the back room and work on guns all day.

And I know it sounds like an advertisement, but I really haven't seen prices as good as we've got in this store, everything is consignment and we've got a couple thousand guns.

No EBR's simply because the owner doesn't want to deal with the kind of crowd those guns attract, which I fully understand, I love my PSL and FAL, but they definitely attract the wrong kind of people when in public.

The crowd I have always come across has been very knowledgeable and understandable in regards to CA gun laws and overall firearm safety.

Unless of course you're referring to the DOJ... Then I fully understand your comment

LOL yeah, the DOJ seems to bug him a lot for some reason and he does his damndest to keep them off his back, but mainly it's to keep many of the thug types away, which we still get quite our fair share of, which I really don't understand considering we're in Granite Bay.

The two gunshops in San Rafael (Bullseye and Great Western Sports Shop) that I've gone to have both been very good.

When I'm at Bullseye, I've never had to wait very long for service, and when there's a lot of foot traffic an employee will almost acknowledge that I'm there and tell me I'll be helped soon. When I bought my Kimber there, the owner, Bill, personally helped guide my choice, and I've never had any regrets. Even better, all the guys there put up with my gun fondling tendencies, since after I'm done with a range session I often like to waste time and handle some of the guns that I've been lusting after.

I've only gone into GWSS three times, but I've gotten great service regardless. First time I went in was for a hunting license, the clerk that helped me was amicable and very nice. Second time was to buy my first .22 rifle, the man behind the counter was extremely helpful, he was with me for about 30 minutes straight, showing me the different makes and models and generally being very helpful. Last time I was in there was a couple days ago to pick the .22 up, and only had to wait a few minutes before I got help.

I guess my town is just spoiled

Oh, and posting the Banned For Life list like the Gun Room does might be illegal.[/QUOTE]

Even if um...."brandishing a CW during an argument" ensued? Cops are in & out of there ALL the time. That "list" would be history a LOOOONG time ago if it were illegal.

Every time I go to Wild Sports, I'm usually out of there within 5-10 minutes. I buy nothing and my wife keeps asking me why do I even bother stopping there. I tell my wife one day I will find something in the store that catches my eye that I will not be able to live without. All of their stuff seems to be higher than most stores I've been to.

I remember going to a gun show at the Murrieta Convention Center (hope I got the name right) back in the mid 90s. One of the employees from Rancho Cordova Shooting Center had an A.D. about ten feet away from me. Most people in the building either hit the ground or ran off.

I do most of my shopping in Lodi (Professional Firearms). The owner (Alain) is a little scatter brained at times and you have to keep on him about ordering. He ususally keeps a good stock of the most popular guns/accessories.

The reason I stated that it might be illegal for the Gun Room to post the names of the Banned for Life list is that it actually might BE illegal to post. I do not know/recall much of what IS on that list, but depending upon what info is on that list, it actually could BE illegal to post.

If it is, I doubt that a whole lot of cops would know exactly what is and is not legal to post. This stuff probably isn't encountered that often...

Now then, I'm certainly not saying that it isn't a bad idea to let people know that there are people out in the community that are so poor with their gun handling skills that they're banned at a particular range...

Yeah, I remember it being beside that motorcycle shop... it's nice to know that the entrance was moved rather than the shop go out of business. That place is full of some rather interesting stuff... you just have to keep your eyes open for that good deal.
