Assembling an SBR - DECISIONS!

I have had the itch to assemble an SBR for a while and finally bought a lower receiver the other day to start my new build. Just a couple of quick questions...

1. What length handguard should I go with if I just want the muzzle device showing out of the end with a 10.5" barrel?

2. Speaking of 10.5" barrel - Does anyone have any experience with the WOA 10.5" barrel?

3. Besides the VLTOR MUR, are there any upper receivers that do not have the forward assist? I would like to only have the shell deflector. Thanks.

I think you will not find much helpful info on this forum.

We; Californians, can't easily build SBRs or AR pistols.

So not too many people will have experience with 10.5" barrels.

Your best bet for that kind of info is on ar15.com

Last I checked, DPMS, Sun Devil, and JP all made flat-top uppers less a forward assist. Nodak Spud does as well but those are A1 style by and large.

As for the other bits...probably want to check out ARFcom.

Noveske also makes a MK18 10.5 style upper like the DD. It would be nice if LMT had a factory MK18 offering.

Also look at BCM. The variations they offer are outstanding.

Im Looking at a 10.5 or 11.5 for a pistol build. Im favoring the Noveaske at the moment.

11" handguard will give you the look you're after-

You should look thru that AR-pistol pic thread.......they're basically the same thing minus the stock. You might see something in there you like and you could PM the poster and ask them what they used.
