Ahh hell. My bad, it had been a long day of watching my twin 2 year olds, I'm surprised I could see straight.

Thats pretty funny, I didnt catch that either!

Question. How reliable is your setup? Have you been running your rifle hard?

I ask because I am looking for a good beater .308 barrel to possibly convert to fit my MWS so I can run that **** hard.

I already have a chrome lined barrel but it's really precise and I dont want to mess it up by getting it super hot, plus the BHW barrels are fairly inexpensive and I'm sure I can get one thats lighter than my heavy *** MWS barrel.

You should probably pin and weld the flash hider for maximum length, 16' 1.5".

You can use any barrel just make sure you use a similar bolt and BCG.

SI Defense makes several 308 barrels. I have a 14.5" barrel on mine.

You can also use an armalite barrel, HOWEVER: If you do, you will also need an armalite bolt/extension combo, along with an armalite carrier. It's probably best then to purchase an armalite buffer spring and buffer, and of course, you'll need an armalite length gas tube.

                Jus' sayin'

Thank you everyone for all the info. After the first 3 post I changed my mind and I now going to get a 16" or 18" instead of the 16', also decided to stick with the DPMS style. I looked at some of the barrels mention above and others and I'm leaning towards the 16" 308B LR Profile Mid Length Gas System .750 Gas Block - 1x11 Twist for $285.00 from blackhole weaponry because of the price and reviews. If anyone know of any discounts please let me know.

                    Thank you everyone.

my 16" 308, has 6 pre-deployment training classes ie.. each class was 1000 rounds.. right now it has an aimpoint m4 on it, but i have used it to fire all the way out to 975 hitting 12" x 12" steel plate.

yes there barrels are inexpensive compared to other brands, but i think there quality is just as good as many other more expensive barrel brands.. yes the barrel is stainless steel, but it has held up just as well as one of my DD chf 5.56 barrels..

it is more fun to shoot 7.62x51 then 5.56 to me.. so when not instructing, i use it as my plinking fun gun..

as for using it as your beater barrel.. by all means.. mine get beat and run hard.. and it just asks for more.
