    Ammo Bros AR?

    AR gurus please advise...

are the "Defcons" listed in Ammo Bros ad worth considering? (see ad in attachment).

I'm a relative noob to AR and tried to search for info - couldn't find enough to make an informed decision - so I'm hoping for help from you fine folks.

    Thanks

I'm not sure of the quality, but you can get a S&W M&P15 from Turner's for the same price. I absolutely hate Turner's, but I would go with the S&W of the two. Also the S&W comes with a rear sight

That's what I was thinking too... actually I can get s&w m&p15 sport for under $600... but I don't know the difference in quality (if any)

It's mostly Del-Ton build in that AR, you could probably build the same for a little less. For a "budget" AR, with little work it's a decent deal.

I dig the ammo deal more. Pretty good!

              I would get the M&P 15 Sport for $699 @ Turner's

BTW they say that is their everyday price on that rifle, so who knows they might even run it on sale from time to time.
              Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

S&W makes a solid AR. They dropped the price to compete with all the other budget guns out there. There is nothing wrong with the del-ton components in that ammo bros AR, but S&W is built better and you also have the lifetime warranty

thanks for the info, suggestions and advise guys - this helps the decision process... leaning towards the M&P.

Somehow I suspect this will lead to a desire for something more serious down the road - but hopefully it will satisfy for a while

I agree with the others in this thread. Go with the S&W. I haven't heard many complaints about S&W AR's.

Nah, you won't desire anything like this. They are so ugly, the perfect machining makes it look prissy, and their barrels are junk.

I don't know about their complete rifles, but I recently built an M4gery on one of their Defcon lowers. Good snug fit with the DelTon upper I purchased. No issues so far. And the finishes of the upper and lower were essentially identical, so the rifle doesn't have a two-tone appearance.
