How does the hand grip (what one would normally call the pistol grip if it that term was not so overloaded) portion work to improve handling over the normal sporter stock? Is it a significant improvement? It looks a bit odd but there must be a reason for it.

      How much heavier is it?

Wow... forgot I even posted this a while ago...

The original synthetic stock's angle of grip was crappy and unnatural. The Quasi Pistol Grip stock fixed it and feels very natural to hold. It is quite heavy now with the wood stock and I wont be hiking with it anytime soon, but I think the change in grip angle was worth the extra weight.
