    Finished my Saiga

I got the buttstock and handguards from BattleRifleG3 on the Saiga12 forums. It cost me around $150 and 4 months of wait. It came out pretty good, but there were a few long delays because he took on more orders than he usually does. He's currently not taking any orders until the end of the year. I also put a muzzle brake and bullet guide from Dinzig on the same forum.

I have to admit, it feels ten times better than the original stock furniture, but it was a little thicker than I would have preferred. All in all, I do like it a lot.

Congrats. I am looking into new furniture for mine as well. I am just about to give up and try out stock making for myself.

That looks real nice. Too bad no one else makes that stock.

To think that I got my bow because I couldn't get that rifle transferred to me...

            sigh....

Did you have the synthetic stock originally? I am wanting to get the Saiga 308 with the wood stock, its not quite the same shape as yours, but I am hoping its way better than the synthetic ones.

I had the synthetic stock originally and found it too uncomfortable to hold. The 308 stock does look more comfortable than the synthetic stock, but I have no experience with it.

Home made stocks and parts count?

Would that stock and foregrip count towards your domestic parts count since they were made in the U.S? If you're not running high cap mags, disregard the question; but since you mentioned the feed ramp, I'm assuming that you might be.

                      Thanks in advance,
                      Chris

I know that the stock and foregrip are in the part count. My question was specific to the legality of owner or 3rd party constructed furniture qualifying as domestic parts. I.E. do you have to prove that the part was mfg'd here; and if so, how do you do that with a home built piece?

The reason I ask is because I would prefer to be legal to use the high cap AK magazines I purchased when I bought my rifle back in December 99. I want to be 922r compliant without using any of the magazine parts, so that no matter what mag I use, I'll be good to go. As I count it, if I used a domestic FCG and made both pieces of furniture, I'd be compliant with 922r when using my old magazines, and even legal in good ol Kalifornia.

Please don't take my post as argumentative or anything of that nature. Your build is nice and similar to what I'd be looking to do with the exception of finish. For that matter, I've thought about using my foregrip/handguard and stock as plugs for molds so that I could laminate my own composite furniture and have it count towards my total parts. I just want to make sure that owner or 3rd party parts that are built in the U.S. don't need some sort of certification or acceptance from the DOJ to be considered as a domestic part when considering the total parts count.
