    Rail cover rant

Does anyone know who make the most expensive rail cover is? I was just looking at the Tango Down ones and come on?! 15-16.00 a cover?! Really!? I like them and all but man that's pricey. I would get the Knights but I've broken more of those getting them off then I have using them. Who makes the best cover to you and why? Pics of your rifle with them please.
The liberal see's the glass as half full and tries to take more.
The conservative see's glass as half empty and tries to keep it that way.
I'm with the people on the side just pouring water in the glass trying to get a drink!

I personally really like the TROYs - good deal here for 3/$10 http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s...d.php?t=307308

    Or Magpul XTM panels

I just got a set if the Larue clips and really like them. They have a similar feel to the XTMs but a slightly more textured molding. Also they fill in individual slots so they are really good for arranging around lights/grips/etc. Oh, and they are really easy to put on and take off, especially with an armadillo.

The TangoDown SCAR rail covers are the slimmest, most comfortable rail covers I've used. Makes it fool like a rifle, not a Brick.

I'm assuming you mean least expensive. UTG's are probably the cheapest. The Magpul xtm's are probably the best value at around $8 for 4 panels (enough to cover 1 side of a carbine rail).

If you did mean most expensive LWRC makes some that are around $30 each.

Personally, I just use the ladder rail covers and even those are about $12 a piece.

The rubber ladders are cool -- but I am still not sold on the feel of the full 360 degree rail fore end at all. In fact, except for the tac light, I want those f'ers covered

Alot of these, are made in the same factory and sold under different brands. They are made by falcon industries. I wish I snagged a bunch when I had a chance. A local dealer was selling them for .99 a piece for both styles. I only got what I needed. I should have bought them out and ebayed them off for more.

I hate rail covers. 90% of the ones I see are not even remotely necessary; just there for Chairborne Commando reasons.

I second the LaRue clips, pretty inexpensive too.

KAC covers are way more. The best deal I saw was at Parallax, they had a bulk bin of the Troy covers that come on the Ruger SR-556's, you get 3 for $15!

What about the remaining 10%? What makes those useful where the others are not?

I'm about to give up on them all and go back to wraping the rails in twine and cord.

Yeah, the Troys are very good for the price. I had them, but gave them to my brother because of my diminutive hand size O.o

I ended up with the ladder covers. Parallax sells them 3 for $12 or something. One third the cost of Magpul or Surefire.

And they are the same thing made in the same place, just put in different packaging. I like ladders as well. They are easy to put on, and they stay on. Man I wish I stocked up when they were on clearance.
