What Ar10 to get?

Im looking to make the jump in to the AR10 platform. Its hard to figure out what to get. You don't see to many out on the floor at gun shops. So its buying sight unseen. I know I want a 16' barrel. You only get so much on line. Im looking at LWRC,POF,Primary weapons systems,LaRue,LMT and Kaiser Defense.I need the help from you CalGuners.

Dont call it AR-10.AR-10 is a trade mark of Armallite .call it .308 AR. I have a POF .308 It is great,no problems since using magpul mags.Factory DPMS mags and CP products did not work at all. I also have the LWRC Repr ,It runs great .I am looking at getting the Kaiser KR-7.I like the the side charging handle.TOO many toys not enough money.

Both the LWRC REPR & the POF-P415 are great .308 rifle systems Unfortunately, POF has been having some inventory problems with their .308 line But if you could find a dealer with one in stock, go for it.

Not to take anything away from the LWRC REPR which is a great rifle in itself. Not too many people willing to step up into the $3k+ price range but if you can go there, grab a SCAR17. More exclusive and keep a few $$$ in your pocket

I would stay away from Kaiser, only because they are almost impossible to get a hold of. In case you have problems. I hear their stuff is nice but without customer service............

On the other hand a guy at my work just picked up an LWRC and it is a niiiiiice gun.

LMT MWS all the way man. I dont have one (yet), Its on my short list. If you've got something against DI then I'd look at the LWRC.

Get a Aero Precision 308 lower and put a Armalite 16 inch carbine upper on it. Armalite mags are pricey but its a cheap way to build a AR-10 and mine runs perfect

16" is very short for a .308 if only for the muzzle blast issue.

If you want something light, look in to the upcoming IT'S-12. It's a hybrid that uses an AR15 style bolt carrier, bolt and barrel extension so that the upper is much lighter and can use AR15 accessories like free-float hand guards.

The prototypes are right around 7 lbs. on a DPMS style lower.

Very true, especially for long range. But its sooo.... fun to shoot!!! I built it for close quarters. Gotta love that HUGE muzzle flash!!hehe
