That's true, but if you get a 16" then you don't have to worry about that.

If you don't want front sights, then you would need to get a rail to cover the FSB. But, if you do that, then you're adding extra weight to the front.

Carefully consider what you really want before going to different routes. I thought I didn't want a front sight either until I tried out a a rail and it was way heavier than just a plain MOE handguard. In the end I sold the rail for a loss and the upper for a loss.

I did my AR build a couple of years back and wanted a matching upper and lower. I sourced an RRA lower locally and purchased a 16" LAR-15 rifle kit from RRA directly. The kit includes everything you need to assemble the rifle including their two stage national match trigger.

I've been really happy with it, and had no issues thus far. Prolly put about a 1K rounds though it.

My eyes are burning and my brain is in AR overload! LOL

I knew there were a lot of different ways you could build one but DANG I didnt know there were thousands! HAHA

Now im having trouble figuring out which route I want to go. Im 98% sure ill be going with a 16" barrel, but ive seen a lot of different hand guards and what not that I like.

            Decisions, decisions....

I'll also vouch for RifleGear uppers. I went for the midlength uppers. Flawless so far. They recently added some new setups for those that don't want the fixed front sight.
